A Day of LA Shopping at The Grove

One of my favorite places to shop in Los Angeles has to be The Grove.

This chic outdoor shopping mall with its colorful flowers, water features and old-fashioned trolley, boasts the latest upscale shops on one side and the original farmers market on the other.  Situated right next to the CBS Television Studio, during the week, stars will pop over to the mall for lunch and you’ll see groups of people with the big yellow name tags that announce they’ve just been at the taping of a Price Is Right episode.

Although there are almost no plus-size clothes to be found, I find the people and the shopping at The Grove wonderfully chic, a great place to get idea’s and see what’s really IN with the upscale LA crowd. I’ve stumbled across things here, like snapchat glasses and Glow Recipe Skin Care that showed up in the glossy magazines the next month.

The huge parking garage makes parking easy and the free trolley can take you from one end of the mall to the other if you’re worried about too much walking.  I like to pop into the apple store for yet another pair of earphones, wander thru Alo Yoga, pick up a couple books at Barnes & Nobel, check out the latest Ugg’s, then wander thru Anthropology.  If my girls are shopping with me, they always want to visit the American Girl Store even though they are already college age, get some make-up at Sephora and some clothes at Topshop.

Over at the Original Farmers Market they have the latest fad foods from kale to cupcakes with lots of old favorites.  We often end up just sitting on the Coffee Bean patio with our latte’s, relaxing, enjoying the atmosphere and people watching.

Taking the trolley back to the big dancing fountain, I like to visit the Nordstrom, the only place with plus sizes in this mall, and check out all the pop up shops around the fountain area.  It makes for a lovely afternoon or evening stroll and then it’s back in the car and the LA traffic!

For a long shopping day, beautifully sunny and warm, I pulled on some distressed cropped jeans from Nordstrom, a channel-inspired jacket from Eloquii and my red Puma’s.  I love the gold butttons and pleated chiffon trim on the ¾ sleeves of this jacket.

As the day progressed, the walking and the sun (or was it a hot flash) combined to convince me to go without the jacket.  Luckily I had worn a fun black graphic tee from Torrid and had grabbed my black Marc Jacobs crossbody from Nordstrom Rack, which added some gold bling back into the outfit.

My hair is quickly growing back after the chemo, a year now, and it’s coming in much curlier than before!  I wore some fabulous makeup from Mally Beauty in pink and burgundy shades that stayed and didn’t crease all day, check out Mally Beauty’s Evercolor Shadow Sticks.
